Growing Together: Our Commitment to a Greener Future

We’re excited to announce that we have partnered with TreeApp which is a global tree planting organisation that operates at sites worldwide. 

Every quarter, TreeApp will plant new trees in Indonesia for the number of staff we have at Xiatech! So, by joining us, you’re not just helping build a brighter future for our company – you’re helping to make the world a greener, more sustainable place. 🌱

We kicked off this important initiative by planting 108 trees in August 2024 (on behalf of our current employees including 25 additional trees). This will have a positive impact on the environment.

The Reforestation Project in Indonesia 

TreeApp’s committed local teams are dedicated to planting mangroves at multiple sites in Lombok, involving local communities and schools for educational purposes. The teams work closely with local mangrove scientists which ensure that the trees are planted in suitable areas and conditions. This can be credited by the survivability rate, where the percentage in most of the sites reaches over 90%.

Indonesia’s Efforts to Prevent Flooding Disasters

Indonesia’s size, tropical climate and archipelagic geography support one of the world’s highest levels of biodiversity. Over the last three decades, however, Indonesia has lost over 40% of its mangrove forests. Every year, floods and natural water-related disasters cause recurring damage in Indonesia affecting both flora and fauna on its islands.

The reforestation efforts in Indonesia focus on protecting villages from flooding. These projects are vital to safeguard the shelter and agricultural lands of locals. In addition, a vast array of tropical birds and coral reefs are dependent on the rehabilitation of the area.

Environmental Benefits

Mangrove plantations play a crucial role in supporting a wide range of wildlife, through providing essential habitats for fish nurseries and offering shelter. Their restoration projects have notably benefited species like Mangrove Crabs, Porcupine Fish, and Butterfly Fish. These activities highlight the mangroves’ ecological significance in nurturing marine life and bolstering the vitality of local ecosystems.
