The Role
We’re looking for an experienced and dynamic Engineering Manager that will develop and mentor our technical teams to deliver across our clients.
You will be responsible for supporting the growth and performance of team members and ensuring teams are supported and empowered to achieve their goals. You will lead two or three engineering teams and will work closely with leadership across Product, Architecture, Delivery and Client Services.
Reporting into the CTO, you will work with leaders across Xiatech to design and drive the engineering strategy for our Xfuze platform.

Key Responsibilities
People, coaching and mentoring
Line managing a large team including one-to-ones, quarterly reviews, etc
Ensuring Engineers are suitably trained to perform all job functions and to use project, framework, software and tools appropriately
Ensuring Engineers have a clear path to learn and progress their careers through training and development
Guiding and coaching Engineers and other staff members
Supporting the recruitment of Engineers
Best practices & adherence to standards
Designing, utilising and executing consistent engineering practices
Working with our Head of Delivery to ensure Engineers follow best delivery practices for their project (Agile or Waterfall)
Assisting with continuous improvement of departmental and company best practices
Maintaining ISO27001 standards and strong security practices
Delivery
Supporting Engineers to deliver successfully
Resolving issues and risks proactively
Ensuring our customers are happy with the standard of work our Engineers produce, by working closely with client services
Ensuring that projects are well defined and healthy
Supporting and assisting teams to overcome issues
Your Knowledge and Experience
A clear understanding of:
Software development (ideally you have been a hands-on Developer/Engineer previously)
Architecture of data-rich, large scale systems and challenges
Solution integration layer, API
Data and Analytics
Cloud
Different methodologies (Agile & Waterfall)
Experience with SaaS/PaaS building up a strong product and delivering to customers
Experience in a scale up business (so you understand our maturity level, quality, security, support, etc)
At least 5 years experience in software and/or data engineering with at least 2 years experience in managing cross functional engineering teams
Strong personnel performance management and career development experience
A strong understanding of how technology relates to business, market and industry and applies knowledge to support the needs of critical platform development
Excellent written and spoken communication skills with experience of successfully influencing others, negotiating effectively and winning over audiences with compelling and persuasive presentations
Ability to dive in, understand both business and customer’s needs as well as technical challenges and solutions
Strong problem solving skills, including providing simple solutions to complex situations
Strong communication skills and coordination skills
Highly organised and highly competent in solving issues and finding solutions
