The Role
This role is an opportunity to join a fast-growing UK-based organisation that believes in using the latest cutting-edge technology. As a Data Engineer at Xiatech you will contribute to the design, implementation and architecture of our product. Be responsible for expanding and optimising data and pipeline landscapes, and for optimising data collection and flow across functional teams.
This role will report to the Engineering Manager and work closely with Software Developers, other Data Engineers and Data Analysts on data initiatives and ensure a consistent data delivery architecture is put in place throughout ongoing projects. The right candidate will be a seasoned data professional with hands-on technical experience across the Azure stack.
Key Responsibilities
Develop a deep understanding of data assets and how they can be leveraged to support business decision-making.
Analyse, implement, test and deliver robust data models, pipelines and workflows.
Assure that data is cleansed, mapped, transformed and optimised for storage and querying according to business and technical requirements
Drive a migration from a legacy data infrastructure to a new one whilst also balancing BAU and maintenance.
Deliver on Data Architecture, Security, Data Lifecycle Management, Cataloguing, pipelines and all other aspects of development that are in the roadmap.
The ability to deploy production-ready code via code-control systems and an appreciation of the delivery (with unit testing, continuous integration, versioning etc.)
Ensure code and data quality, best practices
Implement monitoring and cost management
Define create and maintain technical/data documentation
Your Knowledge & Experience
3+ years work data engineering, with experience in Data Modelling
2+ years of work experience with Azure, including Data Factory and Synapse
Work experience with SQL, Python, C, including Spark
Experience working with Databricks would be beneficial
Essential to have Apache PySpark experience
Familiarity with modern DevOps practices (including Azure DevOps, Git and CI/CD)
Exposure to data architecture, security, modelling, cataloguing, life cycle management will be beneficial.
SQL skills and experience with stored procedures on MS SQL Server
Microsoft SQL Server
Experience in GCP and/or AWS is a bonus
